How Do Hopeful Students Become Singapore Lawyers

Students in college have read numerous books and manuscripts in order to get their degree. Likewise, those who strive to become lawyers in Singapore have to undergo a tough qualification procedure and intense lectures.
Because law is tagged as a highly distinguished discourse, the application procedure is a rigid test of identifying the prospect’s capability to finish the degree. After their grades have been weighed in, the aspirants take an entrance exam and attend a formal interview to find out if they will be approved for admission. Out of thousands of applicants, only a small number are granted the chance to take the course.
Those admitted will take a Bachelor of Laws course which lasts for four years. The law student has the alternative to take the degree and a secondary course or obtain a double honours degree. Some of the secondary courses that aspiring lawyers can study are Management, Philosophy, Economics and Political Science. On the other hand, double honors degree courses consist of Law and Life Sciences, Law and Public Policy and Business Administration and Law.
On the first two years, Bachelor of Laws students are obliged to take basic subjects like torts law and contract law. For their last two years, they can enroll in up to 18 electives. Various law-related electives are Asian legal studies, intellectual property and technology, business law and foreign law. On the other hand, non-law related electives include accounting, foreign policy and overseas languages.
If a student has completed a course before, he may complete the Bachelor of Laws degree in just three years. Also, a Master of Laws course is offered to those who have completed the Bachelor’s degree. Master of Laws students can enroll in the coursework approach wherein they have to take a part of their degree in an affiliate university overseas. Lawyers who want to take the research Master of Laws degree can finish it from one to three years.
